Подлинная экспедиция, а не однодневная поездка — Оазис Дахла, примерно в 740 км к юго-западу от Каира, содержит средневековый город Аль-Каср, храм Дейр аль-Хагар и горячие источники среди пальмовых рощ; Харга на обратном пути добавляет некрополь Аль-Багават, одно из самых ранних и наиболее хорошо сохранившихся христианских кладбищ в любом месте. Лучше всего путешествовать с октября по март, когда дневные температуры пустыни остаются комфортными.
