Family Photoshoot at the Pyramids: What Works With Kids
Timing, heat, attention spans and group size — how a family photoshoot at Giza actually goes, and how to plan one that does not end in tears.
A family photoshoot at Giza is a logistics problem with a photograph at the end of it. The site is hot, open and bigger than it looks, and small children reach their limit faster than anyone plans for. None of that is a reason not to do it — it is a reason to book the right hour.
Book the sunrise slot
For families this is not a stylistic preference. Sunrise is cooler, quieter, and lands before most children are tired of being told where to stand. The last hour before sunset is the other good window, but by then you are competing with a full day already spent.
The session runs one to two hours at the Giza Pyramids and the Nine Pyramids View, and it does not have to use all of it. A shorter, better-tempered session produces better photographs than a long one nobody is enjoying.
What it costs for a family
The Exclusive Pyramids Photoshoot is $75 and is priced for the session, not per person — it is your family and the photographer. For larger parties there is a group photoshoot add-on. You get 80+ edited pictures, with the raw unedited photos the same day.
Pickup and drop-off from your hotel are included, along with parking and road tolls. With children, not having to arrange transport to Giza and back is worth more than it sounds. Site entrance tickets are not included and are bought at the gate.
Tell us the ages when you book. A session with a four-year-old is planned differently from one with teenagers, and it is easier to plan for than to improvise around.
What actually helps on the day
- Water, hats and sunscreen. The site is open desert with very little shade.
- Let the youngest set the pace. The photographer works around children rather than expecting them to hold still.
- Do the whole-family frames first, while everyone is fresh, and the individual shots afterwards.
- A camel is often the thing that buys another twenty minutes of enthusiasm — it is available as an add-on, arranged in advance.
If the weather turns
We reschedule, and the same applies if you are running late. With children, mornings go wrong; a delayed start is not a forfeited booking.
