Is It Worth Hiring a Photographer at the Pyramids?
An honest comparison between your phone, a passing stranger and a booked photographer at Giza — including when hiring one is not worth it.
Modern phones take excellent photographs of the Pyramids. That is genuinely true, and any article that pretends otherwise is selling something. The question is not whether your phone is good enough for the Pyramids. It is whether it is good enough for the photographs with you in them.
What your phone actually does well
- Wide landscape shots of the site. Excellent, and a photographer will not beat them by much.
- Detail and texture in good light. Very good.
- Anything you can frame yourself, with time to try again.
Where it falls down
Every photograph of you. A selfie at the Pyramids puts your face across half the frame and the pyramid somewhere behind your ear. The alternative is handing your phone to a stranger, who will take one shot, from standing height, without checking it, while wanting to get back to their own day.
This is the actual gap. Not image quality — composition, direction and the fact that somebody is trying.
Look through your last trip. Count the photographs of the place, then count the good ones of you in it. That ratio is what you are buying.
When it is not worth it
If you are travelling to photograph the site rather than yourself, keep your money. If you already have a friend who shoots well and will spend an hour on it, you do not need us. And if you are visiting at midday in July with no flexibility on timing, a photographer cannot fix the light — book a different hour instead, or accept what the hour gives you.
When it is
Anything you cannot re-stage. A honeymoon, a proposal, a milestone birthday, a first trip with grown children, a solo journey you saved years for. Those are the ones people regret not photographing properly, and the regret does not surface until months later.
The numbers, plainly
The Exclusive Pyramids Photoshoot is $75 for a private one-to-two hour session at the Giza Pyramids and the Nine Pyramids View, delivering 80+ edited pictures, with the raw unedited photos the same day. Private transportation with hotel pickup and drop-off is included; site entrance tickets are not and are bought at the gate.
Set against the cost of getting to Egypt at all, it is a small number. That is not an argument for spending it — it is a reason to decide deliberately rather than default to your phone and find out later.

Need, no — your phone will photograph the site well. What it will not do is produce good photographs of you at the site, which is the gap a session fills.
It depends what the trip is. For an ordinary sightseeing day, probably not. For anything you cannot re-stage — a honeymoon, a proposal, a milestone — $75 for 80+ edited pictures is a small share of the trip's cost.
You can, and you will get one frame, from standing height, unchecked. That is the realistic comparison, not a professional versus a good phone.
Your phone will bring home Egypt. It will not bring home you in Egypt, and that is the only photograph nobody else is taking.
